Silver Spring underwent a massive remodeling and renaissance a few years ago, completely rebuilding the Downtown area, making it a prime location for people wishing to catch a movie, do some shopping or grab a bite to eat. In the summertime they have a giant water fountain that is a popular destination for young children wishing to cool off, and in the winter months, they have an ice skating rink.
Downtown Silver Spring is extremely walkable, especially if you live in close proximity to it. There is also a very active bus system that is used by thousands every day. Silver Spring’s location just south of 495 make is a very drivable town, and very popular with people working in DC.
